Passed Your Test? Take Pass Plus

Pass Plus is a DVSA course for new drivers. It covers the driving you'll soon be doing on your own but may not have had much of as a learner: busy motorways, dark country lanes and bad weather. It takes at least six hours, and it's most useful in the first year after you pass.

What the course covers

Town driving Heavy traffic, complex junctions and busy city-centre roads.
All-weather driving Rain, fog, ice and glare, and how to adjust your speed and stopping distances.
Rural roads Narrow lanes, blind bends, national speed limit roads and farm traffic.
Night driving Using your headlights properly, judging speed and distance, and spotting hazards in the dark.
Dual carriageways Joining at speed, overtaking safely and lane discipline.
Motorways Slip roads, smart motorways, and planning your lane changes early.

Why it's worth doing

Confidence before your first solo trips. You'll handle motorways and night driving with an instructor beside you first, so you're not doing them alone for the first time.
Possible insurance savings. Some insurers offer a discount to drivers with a Pass Plus certificate. Ask your insurer before you book.
No test at the end. You're assessed as you go through each module, so there's no pass-or-fail moment.
An official certificate. Complete all six modules to the required standard and you'll get your DVSA Pass Plus certificate.

✓ Payment Policy: Full payment for each lesson must be received at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time to secure your slot. Unpaid bookings may be released to other students.
✓ Payment Methods: Payment can be made via bank transfer or card. Full payment details will be provided upon booking.
✓ Total Drive App (Optional): Your instructor may invite you to download the Total Drive app, which lets you keep track of your lesson payments, monitor your progress and much more. Using the app is entirely your choice, although we do recommend it. LaneCraft Driving Academy is not affiliated with Total Drive in any way. Please note that if you choose to pay through the app, a small processing fee may be charged by Total Drive; this fee goes to Total Drive and is not set by or paid to LaneCraft Driving Academy. If you choose to use the app, Total Drive’s own terms of use and privacy policy will apply to any information you share with them.
✓ Cancellations & Rescheduling: If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, you must provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full lesson rate.
✓ Punctuality & Lateness: Instructors will wait at the agreed pickup location for up to 15 minutes past the start time. If you do not arrive or make contact within this 15-minute window, the lesson will be cancelled, and the full fee will be forfeited.
✓ Fitness to Drive & Medical Disclosure: You must notify your instructor immediately of any medical conditions, injuries, or medications (prescribed or over-the-counter) that may impair your ability to drive safely. Lessons will not proceed if the instructor suspects you are unfit to drive due to illness, fatigue, alcohol, or substances, and the session fee will not be refunded.
✓ Provisional Licence: All learners must hold a valid provisional driving licence for the full duration of their lessons.
✓ Code of Conduct: We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards abusive behaviour, swearing, or aggression directed at the instructor. Any breach is grounds for the lesson to be ended immediately without refund.
✓ Block Bookings: If we are unable to fulfil the remaining hours of a block booking, any unused balance will be refunded in full.
✓ Test Readiness: If your instructor feels you are not yet ready for your driving test, you will be informed in good time ahead of your booked test date.
✓ Adverse Weather: If weather conditions are deemed unsafe for driving, your lesson will be rescheduled at no extra cost and without loss of your lesson fee.
✓ Insurance & Liability: All lessons are conducted in a fully insured dual-control vehicle, and learners are covered under the instructor's insurance policy while driving during lessons.
✓ Data Protection: Any personal information you provide, such as your name, contact details, and postcode, is used solely to manage your bookings and lessons. Your details are stored securely by our website provider, are never sold or passed on for marketing, and are kept only for as long as needed and deleted on request.
✓ Refund Policy: Single lessons paid in advance and then cancelled by you with at least 48 hours' notice will be refunded in full or moved to another slot; cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice are non-refundable. If you choose to stop a block booking part-way through, any unused, unbooked hours will be refunded at the standard single-lesson rate, less any discount already applied to the lessons taken.
✓ Instructor-Initiated Cancellations: If your instructor needs to cancel a lesson due to illness, vehicle issues, or other unforeseen circumstances, you will be offered a rescheduled slot or a full refund at no cost to you.

✓ Complaints: If you are unhappy with any aspect of your lessons, please contact us by email at lanecraftacademy@gmail.com so we can put things right as quickly as possible. We keep a record of complaints and how they were resolved. If your complaint cannot be resolved with us, you can contact the DVSA at gov.uk/complain-about-a-driving-instructor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you must hold a valid provisional driving licence before taking any lessons with us.

The lesson clock starts at the originally scheduled time regardless of when you arrive. We'll wait a maximum of 15 minutes before treating it as a no-show.
